An established organization is actively seeking a skilled individual to join their team, taking on a pivotal role in Business Controlling for BI. This position entails the extraction and manipulation of data from various sources, including the organization’s systems, external platforms, and their data warehouse, with the primary aim of generating high-quality insights and reports. At present, the organization faces challenges with time-consuming data extraction processes, leading to delayed results, quality concerns, and overreliance on specific individuals. With the ongoing growth of their Finco product, the company is now in need of a dedicated professional to take on this role within their Finance department.
This recruitment initiative is designed to reduce the organization’s reliance on a former employee who has been acting as a consultant to create and modify existing models for regulatory reporting purposes. Unfortunately, the valuable knowledge and experience of this former employee have not been adequately transferred to the current team. Feedback from key personnel indicates that the existing modeling methods are outdated, complex to reproduce, and in need of modernization to align effectively with the organization’s data warehouse and modeling standards.
The Business Controlling function plays a central role in the achievement of the organization’s short- and long-term goals, offering commercial insights through the analysis of historical performance and the modeling of future performance. Their vision for Business Controlling is to become a leading partner in financial management and operational optimization. This commitment involves continuously seeking opportunities to enhance collaboration with the business in financial decision-making, adapting financial management to changes in the external environment, and streamlining processes through digitalization.
Historically, the existing Business Controlling function has been primarily focused on traditional budget vs. actual financial analysis at the business unit level and conventional budgeting. Unfortunately, it has faced challenges due to understaffing and a lack of essential skills, resulting in significant overtime for the current Head of Business Control and delays in delivering necessary outputs.
The overarching goal is to establish a more robust Business Control function capable of providing valuable business insights by leveraging both external and internal data sources. This role involves utilizing a broader spectrum of data beyond financial metrics to assess performance, conducting scenario analysis, employing modern BI tools for data visualization, offering value-added commercial perspectives on observations and analysis, and serving as a pivotal resource to the Business Unit commercial officers, BU heads, CFO, and the senior management team.
