In honor of International Women’s Day 2023, I am delighted to have the opportunity to share the story of my career journey as a woman in financial systems recruitment.
After University, I was truly lucky that the recruitment industry found me. I joined SystemsAccountants blissfully unaware of how recruitment would become the foundation of and set the wheels in motion for my career at large. With a background in retail and customer service and a degree in Organizational Communication and Public Relations, I quickly found a love for recruitment as it enabled me to catapult my passion for relationship building and sales into a role that holds emphases in both practices.
I’ve had the pleasure of recruiting within the NetSuite ecosystem for over 5 years, and I am proud of my growth within SystemsAccountants. Upon initially joining the business as a Recruitment Consultant, I gained exposure to the fundamentals of candidate and client management and networking as an active sponsor and member of a handful of NetSuite User Groups. I also had the opportunity to host our very own “Women in Financial Systems” networking events in Chicago and New York.
From there, I was promoted to Senior Recruitment Consultant, then NetSuite Recruitment Practice Manager, then to my current position as Director of NetSuite Recruitment, in which I am privileged and blessed to lead a team of 11 truly amazing individuals.
A recent highlight of my recruitment career was helping a female candidate reach a career milestone by accepting a VP of Enterprise Systems-level position. This specific placement was particularly special because I had placed this individual twice before in past positions, giving me the opportunity to witness firsthand the significant impact and strategic influence Recruiters have on the lives of their candidates and clients! Moments like these are what make recruitment a truly rewarding and lucrative career path.
Every day I am thankful for the countless opportunities my colleagues at SystemsAccountants have provided, and I am fortunate to work for a company that promotes the balance between career development and work-life balance and life values that complement my own. My mother and grandmothers have been prime examples of what it looks like to be a strong, hard-working woman throughout my entire life, and I grew up inspired to match their work ethic. I am excited to celebrate them and all women this International Women’s Day!
