Blending business and independent resource to deliver transformation
TUI Travel is one of the world’s leading leisure travel groups, with revenues of over £15 Billion, over 220 brands in 180 countries and more than 30 million customers.
The challenge:
Following a sustained period of strong organic growth and to facilitate a strategy to establish operations in emerging markets, TUI embarked on a Finance Transformation Programme entitled STUART – System To Unify Accounting, Reporting & Technology. The programme objective was to replace legacy ERP and EPM applications with SAP, provide integration with online reservation and booking applications to enable more effective financial insight and evolve the shared services model. Having struggled to get the right level of programme traction with the big brand, consulting firms, TUI decided to adopt a blended approach of mobilising business and independent resource to drive and deliver the initiative.
The solution:
SystemsAccountants’ business transformation practice, SA-Transformation, was appointed by the CFO as lead resourcing partner under a risk and reward framework to source an Interim Programme Director and assemble a team of independent SMEs across the programme work streams. These included Test Management, Solution Design, Change Management, PMO and Implementation Management.
