Estimated reading time: 1 minute Finding a unicorn financial systems specialist to overhaul financial reporting and planning
Misys is a leading financial services software provider. Their solutions cover retail and corporate banking, lending, treasury, capital markets, investment management and enterprise risk. Founded in 1979 they have more than 2,000 customers across 130 countries and their software is used by some of the world’s leading global financial institutions, including 47 of the world’s 50 largest banks, 16 of the top 25 syndicated loan book runners and 12 of the top 20 asset managers.
The challenge:
SystemsAccountants was engaged by Misys to headhunt a highly specialist Finance BI Project Manager to lead an overhaul of their internal financial reporting and planning systems. Specifically, our mandate was to source a PM with a strong technical capability across IBM’s EPM toolsets: Cognos Controller, Cognos Planning, TM1 and Cognos BI.
The solution:
Following a successful search, we sourced a PM with this rare combination of technical skills and broad project management disciplines. They went on to lead a review of Misys’ existing Data Warehouse model design and then to shape and execute an implementation plan.
The outcome:
The implementation incorporated the technical Installation of TM1, the build of a TM1 cube for reporting of actual data from the data warehouse, as well as the build of a TM1 cube for planning (replacing existing Cognos Planning), the re-design and rebuild of Cognos Controller, the design and build of an integration component called Financial Analytics Publisher (FAP) which automates the process of extracting data in near real time from Cognos Controller into TM1.
In addition to the permanent project management resource, SystemsAccountants also provided a specialist Cognos TM1 developer to support the delivery of a range of new BI reports.
