Our long-standing client in the Education and Higher Ed industry is currently looking for a HRIS Project Manager to initially join their Workday team and later their IT Project Management team.
*This role is on-site three days in New York City. Remote Candidates will not be considered*
In this role, you will coordinate cross-functional teams to implement new systems, enhance existing ones, and improve processes. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with Technology product leads and business owners to define project goals and ensure they are achieved on time and within budget. Successful project delivery will require managing dependencies, mitigating risks proactively, and maintaining excellent communication with both internal and external partners.
SUMMARY
You will be part of our Technology Project Management team, which handles the discovery, budgeting, planning, execution, and monitoring of all Technology projects across the organization. This role offers the chance to collaborate with various divisions within our Technology department. In your initial assignment and during the first nine months, you will focus heavily on HR technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams, ensuring project schedules and performance are met. This includes:
- Defining project scope, business requirements, and success criteria in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
- Identifying the resources needed to achieve project goals
- Developing comprehensive project plans, including timelines, deliverables, communications, and change management strategies
- Identifying and managing key risks
- Adapting project plans flexibly to address changes in scope or arising issues
- Conducting project post-mortems, summarizing successful and unsuccessful elements, and creating recommendations reports
- Strategically plan project communications to ensure stakeholder engagement at each phase. This includes:
- Developing and delivering project charters, status reports, and all project documentation
- Engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels, from Executive Steering Committees to individual contributors
- Facilitating alignment on roles and expectations for teams during the project lifecycle, as well as for business owners post-project
- Proactively communicating with stakeholders about project risks and contingency plans
- Preparing affected business areas for transitions to new processes, including implementing new business procedures
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., computer science, information systems) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience as a project manager, with the ability to proactively identify project risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies
- PMP Certification
- Scrum Master Certification
- Strong understanding of HR processes and systems, high-volume hiring, and experience in education is preferred
