What is the role and company?

We are looking for a seasoned SAP S/4HANA Material Ledger Lead Architect to join our client. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and optimizing SAP S/4HANA solutions, particularly focusing on Material Ledger functionalities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP Material Ledger and a strategic mindset to drive process improvements and ensure efficient costing and inventory valuation processes.

What will I be doing?

As a SAP S/4HANA Material Ledger Lead Architect, your responsibilities will include:

  • Solution Design and Implementation: Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP S/4HANA Material Ledger solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and adhere to best practices.
  • Optimization: Enhance all aspects of the Material Ledger module, including currency design, legal and group valuation, standard cost estimates, actual costing, variance analysis, transfer pricing, and intercompany markup elimination.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Manage and optimize intercompany transactions to ensure accurate valuations and seamless integration.
  • Costing Processes: Develop robust costing and inventory valuation processes to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Centralized Stock Hub: Implement solutions for centralized stock hub models with minimal stock ownership to market affiliates.
  • Process Improvement: Focus on continuous improvement and efficiency gains in costing and inventory valuation processes.
  • Advanced Financial Closing: Utilize SAP Advanced Financial Closing (AFC) in relation to Material Ledger processes.
  • Documentation: Create detailed work instructions, process documentation, and best practice guidelines.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure integrated solutions.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Cutover Management: Oversee cutover and go-live activities for Material Ledger and related modules.

What profile will I require?

  • Technical Skills (Hands-on SAP Configuration Knowledge):

    • Material Ledger (ML): Expert configuration and optimization of all aspects of the Material Ledger, including currency design, legal and group valuation, standard cost estimates (legal and group valuation), actual costing and reporting, variance analysis and reporting, transfer pricing solutions, and markup elimination intercompany.
    • Advanced Costing: Configuration and implementation of advanced costing scenarios, including parallel valuation, transfer pricing, and cost component splits.
    • Inventory Valuation: Design and implementation of inventory valuation methods, including standard costing, moving average pricing, and actual costing.
    • Variance Analysis: Configuration and reporting of price and exchange rate variances, and purchase price variances.
    • Centralised Stock Hub: Experience in configuring and implementing centralized stock hub models, including minimal stock ownership to market affiliates.
    • Cross-Company Costing: Configuration of cross-company actual costing and variance allocation by cost component.
    • Integration: Hands-on working experience with SD and MM flows, particularly related to material movements, goods receipt/issue, and billing processes impacting Material Ledger.
    • Budgeting: Experience with budget upload processes and integration with Material Ledger for cost planning.
    • Reporting: Design and development of custom reports for Material Ledger data analysis and reporting.
    • Manual Creation: Experience in manual adjustments and corrections related to Material Ledger postings.

    Managerial Experience:

    • Proven experience in leading and managing SAP S/4HANA Material Ledger projects and teams.
    • Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions for complex costing and valuation scenarios.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Experience in developing and implementing best practices and process improvements related to Material Ledger.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering accurate and timely costing data.
    • Experience in creating and delivering training and documentation, including process flows and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Material Ledger processes.
    • Ability to mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement in Material Ledger expertise.
    • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects effectively, including managing concurrent Material Ledger implementations.
    • Ability to effectively manage workshops and produce comprehensive status reports, providing clear and concise updates to stakeholders on Material Ledger activities.
    • Strong cross-functional experience, working collaboratively with various departments, including IT, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations.
    • Experience in managing cutover and go-live activities for SAP Material Ledger and related modules.
    • A minimum of 15 years of experience in SAP FICO, with a strong emphasis on Material Ledger.
    • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a significant plus.
