Introduction to the Position

My client, a profitable startup with over €150 million in funding, is looking to hire a Senior Accountant to join their accounting team in Berlin. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic accounting professional who is ready to work within a small, high-performing team that supports multiple German entities. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly and annual reporting processes, and contributing to the growth of the accounting function within the company.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger and bookkeeping for multiple German entities
  • Handle month-end closing and annual reporting
  • Oversee tax processes, including in-house VAT reporting (external tax aspects are managed separately)
  • Participate in the annual audit process
  • Work within HGB standards, with limited involvement in IFRS
  • Collaborate with various finance teams (such as FP&A, group accounting, and tax teams) to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies

Desired Qualifications

  • Fluent German
  • Previous experience in a large organization with multiple finance teams (FP&A, group accounting, tax)
  • Familiarity with working across entities within a larger group
  • Strong knowledge of HGB accounting standards
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your own responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable with some stakeholder engagement and collaboration with teams across different departments (e.g., supply chain, operations)
  • Ideal candidate would be early in their career and looking for growth opportunities within a small, flexible, and fast-moving company

Salary: €60,000 – €65,000 with a 4-day office policy in Berlin
