Job Title: Systems Accountant

Location: Scottish Central Belt/ Flexible working options available

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum, + benefits

Are you a Systems Accountant looking to make a real impact? We are working with a new Unit4 ERP [Agresso] Customer seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join their finance team as they launch a new finance system. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation and ongoing development of their new system.

Role Overview:

As a Systems Accountant, you will be integral to the day-to-day administration, development, and continuous improvement of the Unit4 ERP [Agresso] finance system. You will collaborate with colleagues across various departments to enhance business processes, develop reports, and integrate with other corporate systems. Your expertise will ensure efficient financial operations and improved end-user experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and launch of the new Unit4 finance system.
  • Administer, develop, and continuously improve the finance system.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all finance system-related matters.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to develop reports and interfaces with banking, student records, and HR/payroll systems.
  • Conduct continuous assessments to enhance business processes and maintain robust financial controls.
  • Test and implement new releases, upgrades, enhancements, and configuration changes.
  • Provide comprehensive user and system documentation and facilitate end-user training.

Finance Department Objectives:

  • Provide reliable and meaningful management information to stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective internal financial controls.
  • Process financial transactions accurately and in compliance with accounting standards and legislation.
  • Offer support and advice to senior leadership, university committees, budget holders, research and commercial colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver a successful finance system implementation in 2024.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role, maintaining and developing a financial management information system.
  • Background in finance/accounting with a solid understanding of finance processes.
  • Professional accountancy qualification, progress towards achieving this, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical issues.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyse processes and provide solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing service improvement and strong customer focus.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Unit4 ERP [Agresso] application or similar ERPs.
  • Experience in project management and/or delivering training sessions.
  • Technical Report Writing capabilities using SQL.
